Mark any places with deeper stains. If you have long-standing or deeper stains that you think might need special attention, be sure to note in a way or mark these areas so we can treat them beforehand.
Move any fragile or small broken valuables to another area. This is just a precaution, because your carpet cleaning crew may want to move the furniture off the carpet to get to cleaning every inch of your carpet.
Decide what to do about the "immovable" furnishings. If you have furniture or very heavy items (eg it would be a grand piano, a glove full of china, a heavy wooden bed frame), decide if you would like to hire movers to move these items.
